Veronika Korniyenko was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia in 1982 to a family of artists: Irina and Oleg Korniyenko. In 1993-1998 she went to the Hermitage art criticism school. From 1994-1998 she was involved in the theatre production (Symbolic Marionette Theatre Harlequin) as a puppet maker and a performer. In 1996 she was excepted to the Saint Petersburg School of the Arts, where she took classical painting, drawing, sculpture and art history classes.
In 1998 moved to the USA, San Francisco, and attended SF High School of the Arts (SOTA). At her senior year she had a mural art project in collaboration with Sol Lewitt. At the end of the year after working with the local artist Seyed Alavi, was created a site-specific installation at the SFMOMA, IN VISION, based on a long self-defining process through the use of a still camera and PhotoShop program. At the same time she had a self-portrait painting exhibited at the DeYoung Museum. Upon graduation from SOTA she received a scholarship to attend the California College of Arts and Crafts, where she is now majoring in Illustration. After being involved in the Art and Film for teenagers program for over two years, in the Spring of 2002 she was given a privilege to create two films under supervision of Ronald Chase.
