33

My friend Michael and I have a huge obsession with Disneyland, and the psychology behind it. For a long time Michael and I laughed about a possible darker side behind the "happiest place on earth" image. An expose on Club 33, an exclusive club in Disneyland, seemed to be the perfect vehicle for showcasing the evil behind the mouse. When I filmed the piece, I tried to find Disneyland employees that could talk to me about the club. Of course, protocol stopped them from even mentioning its existence on camera, so I resorted to asking completely random people around the park. The eccentric, if not completely weird, people I found around the park ended up as much of a focus as the club itself. Unfortunately, i actually was tracked down by Disneyland security, and they threatened to kick me out if I kept filming, so I only got about fifteen minutes of footage in the park. Turning that footage into a "mockumentary" was the only way to salvage the piece, and ended up being far more entertaining.
